Pirated Manuals

from the Cub Manual Server

Over the last few years, I have been seeing an increasing trend on eBay. People who Pirate data from websites via a reaping or harvesting program, then rework the files as best they can, turn them into pdf files and then claim them as their own. They then turn around and sell them for what people may view as a Good Price to have say 11 or 18 or 24 Manuals on CD Rom.

What many people who buy these CD's are not aware of, is that these manuals in the main have been harvested from this very server. These harvested manuals have been either donated to me to scan and upload, or I have purchased many of them myself via eBay and other sources, scanned and uploaded them. I truly dislike harvesters as they take the work of others and make nothing but profit off of them. How can they sleep at night? They must have no moral compass to guide them.

Either way... this is not to complain as it is no skin off of my nose so to speak. What it is however, is essentially theft and fraud. What they are doing is conning people into buying that which is availabe free. These are the people that are breaking the Intellectual Property laws and the various copyright laws that may or may not be in place in many countries. One of my biggest concerns was Copyright Violation. The server contains manuals that are not in violation of Copyright laws. Mostly because either there is no copyright on the original works and are therefore in the Public Domain such as on all of the Original IH Manuals, or they are not being sold. They are available just like a book or magazine would be avalable in a library. They are there to provide an ready on-line reference.

Just as an aside, yes there is a copyright statment on the manual server, however that statement applies only to the Intellectual Property as represented by the style and layout as well as the contents of the server, but does not include the IH Manuals, CaseIH protected trademarks etc., but does include the articles that have been written by the respective authors. Each has a copyright statement on each index page to guarantee their Intellectuall Property Rights and to reflect their creativity.

So the list below has been compiled and the vendors products verified as being harvested from the Cub Manual Server. Granted 1 or 2 manuals may have new cover pages and even 1 or 2 on some CD's may actually not have been harvested, but the bulk have been. The rationale behind this is to save you money and to point out who is doing the harvesting and reaping the profits from this illegal activity. Will it stop it? Probably not, but I do hope that it will save some people money. It is your money and your choice. All this page is for is to give you a choice.
And all of the people below have been reported to eBay for this kind of activity.

Thanks, Rudi

juzluz - Useful Cd's

Notes:

juzluz has been offering cd's uner the UseFul Cd's name for a number of years. He currently has had his eBay account closed and now appears to be operating under the User Friendly CD's account.

manualsupply is no longer a registered member on eBay.. his account has been closed!

Hopefully the complaints that have been registered with eBay have been partially effective in curbing some of this activity. We can only hope that it will continue.
